This mod adds the Akkadians as a selectable culture in the Ancient Era. No other selectable cultures are replaced, though the Akkadian Independent People are replaced by the Canaanites. Otherwise the mod does not change anything outside of this specific culture.

The Akkadians are also part of my Culture Super Pack.

The Akkadians have their own Legacy Trait, Emblematic Quarter, and Emblematic Unit. Info below:

Affinity: Expansionist
Legacy Trait: First Empire: -25% Instability from territories attached to the capital (equivalent to +5 Stability per territory attached to the Capital)
Emblematic District: Ziggurat: Replaces the Main Plaza; All yields of the default Main Plaza (+3 Food, Industry, Money, and Science; +20 Fortification; +2 Farmer, Worker, Trader, and Researcher Slots); +9 Influence (instead of 6 for the default Main Plaza); +2 Faith; +10 Stability; -50% territory attachment cost in this city; All cities you create or capture during the Ancient Era have their Main Plazas automatically become Ziggurats; when advancing to a new culture, all Ziggurats will revert to generic Main Plazas and lose their extra bonuses
Emblematic Unit: Axemen: Replaces the Warriors; 20 Combat Strength (instead of 19 for the Warriors); +3 Combat Strength when attacking a unit that was not adjacent at the start of the round; Costs 2 population to build (instead of 1 for the Warriors); Unlocks at City Defense (like the Warriors)

If you encounter bugs, please let me know! You can find me on Reddit, Steam, and Discord under the name uncle2fire.

This mod is compatible with my other added culture mods EXCEPT FOR the Culture Super Pack. This mod has not been tested with any mods made by other creators.

Credit for the unit art for the Axemen goes to duskendawne.

Who are the Akkadians?

The first true empire in history, the Akkadians conquered most of Mesopotamia by the 24th century BC. The later Assyrian and Babylonian empires considered the Akkadians to be their precursors, giving them legitimacy and prestige, much like connections with the Roman Empire have done in more recent history. Akkadian innovations include a postal service, extensive roads, and a calendar system that is relatively easily tracked by modern archaeologists.

Did the Akkadians change recently? Most recent game didn't seem to have the +3 yields and +2 slots?

Uncle2fire @uncle2fire

I had one report of a bug with the Akkadians where the Ziggurat was separately constructible from the automatically-constructed city center, which would fit with your description of the change. I haven't been able to replicate the bug, but I'm planning to update all the individual culture mods over the next few days, in case that fixes the issue.
