This mod adds the Phrygians as a selectable culture in the Ancient Era. No other cultures are replaced and the mod does not change anything outside of this specific culture.

The Phrygians are also part of my Culture Super Pack.

The Phrygians have their own Legacy Trait, Emblematic Quarter, and Emblematic Unit. Info below:

Affinity: Militarist
Legacy Trait: Phrygian Mode: +0.5 Influence per Unit
Emblematic District: School of Music: +3 Influence; +2 Science; +1 Influence per adjacent district; +0.5 Combat Strength and Movement to all melee units; Armies starting their turn on the School of Music gain the status Roused, which provides +4 Movement and +2 Combat Strength for one turn; Must be built adjacent to the Main Plaza; May only be built once per city
Emblematic Unit: Auletes: Does not replace any unit; Melee unit with 14 Combat Strength and 5 Movement; Enemy armies retreating from an army with an Auletes unit may not move on the following turn; When an army with an Auletes unit retreats, it gains +3 Movement on the following turn; Must be built in a city with a School of Music

If you encounter bugs, please let me know! You can find me on Reddit, Steam, and Discord under the name uncle2fire.

This mod is compatible with my other added culture mods EXCEPT FOR the Classical Numidians and the Culture Super Pack. This mod has not been tested with any mods made by other creators.

Who are the Phrygians?

A bronze-age culture from Anatolia, the Phrygians were closely related both linguistically and culturally to the Greeks. The Phrygians were especially renowned for their music, much of which served as an influence and basis for music in Greece in classical antiquity. A specific mode, the Phrygian mode, was perceived as very militaristic by the ancient Greeks. Probably the most famous Phrygian was the king Midas, who was said to turn everything he touched into gold.

The Auletes can only be built in a city with a School of Music (the Phrygian emblematic district). This mod is out of date however, so it may no longer work as intended. I suggest using the Super Pack mod if you want to play as the Phrygians; the Super Pack has the most up-to-date version of all my culture mods.

I suppose we will see soon Lydian, Mixolidian, or any complicated mode from guitarist heroes. ahaha.
